This year for CJ’s birthday, we decided to have a shopping day so he could pick out some new clothes rather than doing surprise gifts. As much as I like shopping for myself, it’s equally as fun to pick out clothes for him! Something I’ve always admired about CJ is his sense of fashion. He’s content with a bargain or a good investment piece. Either way, he’s got style. Today I’m sharing some fall wardrobe essentials for your man, whoever that special guy in your life may be. I hope you find this helpful if you’re looking for gift ideas or just need to help out his wardrobe a bit.
Classic essentials
Stripes are trending this year, but also a timeless touch to make a men’s shirt more dynamic.
A classic sweater that can be worn with anything is a must-have. Dress it up with slacks and dress shoes, or down with a vest and boots.
Multi-colored sleeves or cuffs adds dimension to a short or long sleeve top. Gone are the days of a plain wardrobe!
CJ swears by Express jeans. Since he is 6’4, it’s tough to find a good fitting pair of pants. The classic skinny jeans fit him perfectly!
Every man needs some comfy, plain short and long-sleeves to mix and match.
This rust color is trending again this fall, and hopefully doesn’t go anywhere soon. It’s perfect for this vest & pairs well with a long-sleeve & boots.
Men love their Red Wing’s. 😉 CJ wears these all the time. While they’re an investment piece, they’ll hopefully last years & are great for cooler weather.
This crewneck is so cozy, I even wear it sometimes! It’s great for lounging, but can also be dressed up for date night.
CJ also loves Target chino’s. He’s been wanting to experiment with different colors, like olive, mustard, or maroon. They’re super stylish yet affordable.
Although many people aren’t working in the office these days, it’s still important to own a good blazer or suit. This neutral wool is a must-have!
Sometimes, blue jeans just clash with certain colors. It’s good to have a darker wash or even black on hand.
Something CJ and I have in common is a love for European style. This coat reminds me of strolling around Switzerland. It’s practical, but not too bulky or plain. Everyone needs a coat!
Keep it simple & timeless.
Shopping for men can seem daunting, and I’m sure many of them would agree too. Many of the stores featured here include: J.Crew Factory, Banana Republic, Red Wing, Target, and Express. No matter your budget, there are two pieces of advice we would have for shopping. Keep it simple and timeless.
